Nuvo Stone Drops Technique

Happy Monday! Wow it’s been a scorcher here over the weekend in Cornwall!.
Today I’d like to talk about a new product from Tonic Studios in 2019  – Nuvo Stone Drops.

Unfortunately, I have a broken arm at the moment so my designs and techniques are limited but there’s so much I
want to share with you and these drops are inspired!

Nuvo Stone Drops are uniquely designed to create a self-leveling drop with a rough stone like finish.
The granules will rise to the surface as the drop dries adding texture to your craft project. One word, AWESOME!

Card 1

to make

  1. Cut 5.75 inch square, add pink/lady liberty stone drops in a random pattern. Dry then re-apply.
Repeat until the desired colourblend is achieved.
  2. Once dry, run your design through a die cutting machine with your normal die cutting plates.
This will squash the card and change the texture from rough and gritty to smooth and silky.
  3. Die cut the Mariposa in jet black and white cardstock, attach directly to the middle of your panel.
  4. Add more stone drops to white cardstock then die-cut the outer die – Believe. Cut believe in black.
Make tails at each end of the sentiment and add to card as shown.
  5. Adhere panel to a 6-inch squared card base.

Card 2

to make

  1. Cut 6-inch square, add pink/lady liberty stone drops in a random pattern. Dry then re-apply.
Repeat until the desired colourblend is achieved.
  2. Die cut the Mariposa butterfly directly into a 6-inch square, to the left and off-centred.
The Butterfly will cut out completely.
  3. adhere the panel with the outline butterfly directly to the colourblended panel.
Adhere butterfly inside the cutout panel. Cut another butterfly in black and attach.
  4. Add more stone drops to white cardstock then diecut the outer die – Believe.
Cut believe in black and white. Make tails at each end of sentiment and add to card as shown.
  5. adhere panels to a 6-inch squared cardbase.

There is so much more you can do with the Nuvo Stone Drops and they completely blew me away when I received them.
You can use them exactly as you do with your drops but that’s just scratching the surface!
Both cards are similar but one is smooth and silky whilst the other is gritty and textured.

I hope I’ve inspired you to grab those drops and see how amazing they are!
In fact, there is a sale on at the moment if you want to try them for yourself.
