Hey there everyone, it’s Kathleen back with you and today I want to share two more cards that I’ve made with the new Summer Flowers stamp set from the Garden Party release. In case you’ve missed it, I’ve shared the first card on my blog as part of the blog hop HERE.
The first one has a very crisp and modern look and is quite simple and quick to make. I really like the contrast of black and white with a few pops of bright colours!
How to make this card:
- Stamp various flowers and leaves from the Summer Flowers stamp set with Black Shadow ink onto a white card base (by the way, any of the new floral stamp sets would work for this technique). Start by stamping the largest images first and then fill the spaces with the smaller ones.
- Stamp a large sentiment like the “Happy Birthday” with embossing ink in the center of the card and heat emboss with a bright colour like Golden Sunflower.
- Take a strip of coordinating coloured cardstock and heat emboss a secondary sentiment with white embossing powder.
TIPP: if you don’t have cardstock in the colour you need, take a strip of white cardstock and colour it with an alcohol marker! I used the Black Cherry marker from the Rich Reds set to colour mine. - For a finishing touch, add some sequins or Nuvo Drops around your card. I chose the Silver Rain sequins to keep the modern look.
The second card requires a little more time and work but I really like how it turned out, too!
How to make this card:
- Die cut a scalloped circle window from a piece of coloured cardstock that you cut to the same size as your card base.
- Place it onto the white card base and mark where the window would be.
- Use different floral images from the Summer Flowers stamp set to stamp them inside the window with embossing ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Make sure to leave some space for a sentiment that you heat emboss with a different colour of embossing powder.
- Stamp and heat emboss a few extra flowers onto another piece of white cardstock.
- Colour all the flowers and leaves with whatever medium you prefer. I used different colours of Shimmer Powders for mine (Lilac Waterfall, Catherine Wheel, Falling Leaves, Atlantis Burst).
- I simply poured some of the powder onto my Easy Clean Mat, spritzed it with my Light Mist Spray Bottle and then picked the colour up with a paintbrush.
- Once everything is dry, adhere the coloured cardstock to the front of your card base.
- Fussy cut the extra flowers and leaves and adhere them around the die cut window.
- Stamp and heat emboss a secondary sentiment onto the bottom part of your card. I chose the Crushed Mulberry embossing powder.
- Finish the card off with some accents like sequins, Nuvo Drops or paint splatters. I couldn’t resist adding a few Crystal Gems to my card.
I hope you like these two cards! Isn’t it fantastic, how many different styles this Summer Flowers stamp set works with? Let me know, which one of the two is your favourite!
Thanks a lot for stopping by!
Xo, Kathleen
