Hi crafty friends and welcome back. Sandi MacIver here and I have a beautiful Fall Botanical Burst card to share with you today.
As you can see I had a ton of fun colouring this beautiful image with my Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens.
The Botanical Burst stamp set is a large “6 x 8” set with three large floral stamps and seven sentiments. They are beautifully drawn and can be used for any season by simply changing out the colours used.
I started by black heat embossing the image onto a piece of Craft Perfect Watercolor paper and then used a fall selection of Aqua Flow Pens to color the image.
Look closely, you will see that I blended yellow with a lot of the colors in order to add depth, and imitate the beautiful fall foliage out my studio window.
Aqua FLow Pens I Used
- Indigo Dawn and Black from the Winter Skies set
- Cinnamon Stick from the Arabian Nights set
- Mango Mimosa from the Surprise Party set
- Matador Red and Pressed Olive from the Festive Seasons set
The ridge of the black embossing not only adds definition to my piece and it also helps to capture and contain the colours within the spots I wanted them in.
When the piece was dry I fussy cut it out.
Assembling the card
- For the background, I used another piece of watercolour paper taped down to my Tonic Glass Mat.
- I spritzed water all over it and then gently shook some Nuvo Shimmer powders over it in Golden Sparkler and Solar Flare.
- Next, I picked up the paper and tilted it to move the colour around and then set it aside to dry.
- Once dry, I cut it down to 4 x 5-1/4, laid it back on the glass mat and splatted some black ink and Gouache (white Paint) onto the surface.
- This beautiful background was then attached to a Craft Perfect Bright White A2 card base.
- To cut out the black frame, I used stitched rectangle dies and I attached it to the watercolour panel with foam tape.
- Then I adhered the floral spray over it.
- The sentiment is from Celebrate Sentiments set and white heat embossed it onto a scrap of Jet Black cardstock.
- For the final embellishment, I simply added a few larger dots with Nuvo Crystal Drops – Ebony Black.
