Hi crafters, it’s Lou Sims here today sharing a card using Day At Sea Celebration Frame Die set by Tonic Studios.
One of the things I love to do with my die cuts, is cut them out of white card & then colour them. The Nuvo range is just perfect for this task. The card I am sharing today has been cut in Craft Perfect watercolour card & coloured with Nuvo Aqua Flow pens.
MY PROJECT
Using the Day at Sea Celebration Frame, I have watercoloured each of the images with Nuvo Aqua Flow pens.
To make the watery sky background, I used the outer die in the die set and watercolour paper and I applied colours also using Nuvo Aqua flows.
The lifebuoy card base was created with Tonic Studio’s circle layering dies. I also cut another circular frame from Craft Perfect Candy Red card, cutting this into smaller portions, mounting each with 3D foam pads.
The Lifebuoy has been finished with Nuvo Twine. I have then added the coloured frame to the lifebuoy base.
The compass images are also from the same die set. Again cut in white card & coloured with Obsidian Black aqua flow.
The sentiment has been layered on to a vellum mat to complete the card.
TOP TIP:
I have found that if I emboss the image into my card first, then colour, finally cutting the image out, you get a wonderfully crisp, coloured edge with no “puddling of colours” at the edges.
Do you have a favourite way to colour your Tonic Studios die cuts? Please share your ideas with us as we love to see what you all create.
Until next time,
Lou
